Project Overview
The grand entrance on the corner of La Trobe & Swanston Street provides access down into Melbourne Central Station from the existing underground rail loop along with the new State Library Station. La Trobe OSD provides an open space transit, highlighted by striking architectural portal columns and beams. It will be the Northern gateway down into the new underground station via a series of escalators that descend beneath La Trobe & Little La Trobe Street.
Our Role
Clifton Formwork (Vic) served as the form-and-pour contractor responsible for constructing the shaft that connects Little La Trobe underground adit to the corner of La Trobe & Swanston at street level. Beginning at ground level, excavating and pouring temporary slabs to 40.0m below ground and then working our way back up, Clifton Formwork (Vic) poured the concrete slabs for each basement level along with the structural lining walls and internal walls, utilising encapsulated or single sided formwork designs. Additionally, we erected and built the suspended slabs above ground up to level 3, with concrete slab thicknesses of up to 1.2m.
