Project Overview

The project aimed to increase capacity and allow for future services between Marshall and Waurn Ponds stations. The works included removal of level crossings at Fyans St and Surf Coast Hwy, duplication of 8km of tracks, 5km of new walking and cycling paths and upgrading of South Geelong and Marshall stations, including new station buildings, 2nd platforms, forecourts, shelters etc.

Our Role

Clifton Formwork (Vic) was contracted by the Djilang Alliance to carry out formwork, reinforcement and concrete placement works for the Fyans St level crossing as well as South Geelong and Marshall stations. In addition, works were carried out on retaining walls, culverts, site compounds and many miscellaneous scopes. The Fyans St level crossing removal consisted of pilecaps, on-site pre-casting of abutments and crossheads, installation and stressing of abutments and crossheads, construction of T-beam deck slabs and steel girder deck slabs offline, which were then installed using SPMT’s during a rail and road occupation. Both South Geelong and Marshal stations consisted of blade walls adjacent V-Line assets, pedestrian bridge, ramps, footings and slabs. The key relationship between the Clifton Formwork (Vic) team and the Djilang Alliance team ensured that there were multiple additional scopes that were carried out supplementary to the original scope.
