Project Overview
The level crossing at Station St. Beaconsfield will be removed by constructing a new road bridge over the rail line. This approach allows for quicker removal with minimal disruption to road and rail users. The project will enhance safety, reduce congestion and enable more frequent train services. It is part of creating a level crossing-free Pakenham Line improving travel efficiency and road safety.
Our Role
Clifton Formwork (Vic) was contracted by the MRPA Alliance to carry out formwork, reinforcement and concrete placement works for a nine-span bridge structure. The project involved constructing pile caps, piers, blade walls, crossheads and bridge decks as well as installing precast elements such as T-beams, kerbs and parapet barriers. Portions of the program were executed during rail and road occupations. A key achievement from the project was the Clifton Formwork (Vic)’s innovative construction methodology that enabled the safe and successful delivery of two bridge piers within the 2–6.4m safe working zone of rail electrical infrastructure without impacting train services.
